What "unlocking" means (and what it doesn't)
A carrier lock restricts a phone to one network. Unlocking it lets you use any compatible carrier's SIM or eSIM. That's different from:
- A forgotten passcode — the phone has to be restored, which erases it unless you have a backup.
- iCloud Activation Lock or Google account lock — anti-theft protections. Only the account owner, or Apple/Google with original proof of purchase, can remove them.
Our policy: we only work on devices you own. We don't bypass Activation Lock, Google account locks or passcodes on any phone.
How it works
- Eligibility check — we confirm whether your phone is actually carrier-locked (many Canadian phones already aren't).
- Unlock request — if it's locked, we help you request the unlock from the original carrier with the right account details.
- Setup and test — we install your new SIM or set up eSIM and check calls, texts and data.

Frequently asked questions
Is it legal to unlock my phone in Canada?
Yes. Under the CRTC's Wireless Code, phones sold in Canada since December 2017 must be provided unlocked, and carriers must unlock older devices free of charge on request.
How do I know if my iPhone is locked?
Go to Settings › General › About and look at Carrier Lock. "No SIM restrictions" means it's unlocked. You can also try another carrier's SIM card.
Can you remove iCloud Activation Lock?
No. Activation Lock is an anti-theft feature that only the Apple ID owner, or Apple with original proof of purchase, can remove. We don't bypass it.
Can you set up eSIM on my new carrier?
Yes. As part of the visit we can set up your new SIM or eSIM and test calls, texts and data.
